WordPress was launched in 2003 to make publishing text on the web easier. Since then, WordPress has become one of the largest open source projects on the web. It is not just a platform to blog with. As popularity grew, WordPress was increasingly used as a CMS (Content Management System). That is, a system to adjust your website easily and without programming knowledge. The reason is clear because the user-friendliness is very high. Around 75 million websites worldwide use WordPress.
WooCommerce is the webshop supplement to WordPress. In a world with such a wide range of webshop software you can rightly ask yourself, why WooCommerce? Unlike many other web shop software, WooCommerce is not an isolated piece of software. WooCommerce is an extension to WordPress. WordPress was originally a blog software and over the years it has become the most widely used CMS (Content Management System) for websites worldwide.
The popularity of WordPress is largely due to the flexibility of the platform. You can expand it in the most diverse ways. WooCommerce is a good example of this. By expanding WordPress with WooCommerce, you can therefore run a “normal” website with, among other things, an active blog, combined with a full flex webshop.

WordPress and (to a large extent) WooCommerce is an Open Source project, this means that everyone is free to use it free of charge. WordPress works with themes in which the possibilities of WordPress are defined. We recommend that you purchase the extensive Enfold theme because this is one of the best-selling themes with good documentation.
